QLD:MP apology over disabled child gaffe=2

"It was wrong of me and I apologised immediately to (the father) Robert and I went
and visited he and his wife Michelle and Bailey at their home later in the afternoon,"

he said.

"I apologised profusely."

He said the issue should not stop local voters deciding on the major issue, which is
the choice between Tony Abbott or Julia Gillard as prime minister.

Mr Murphy told the ABC he had spoken up at a people's forum on behalf of all parents
who had a child with a disability.

He said Mr Sullivan's remark annoyed him, but had not changed his intention to vote Labor.

He said the family had also been offered help by LNP candidate Wyatt Roy.
