VIC: Police examining report on level crossing accident

MELBOURNE, Aug 11 AAP - Police are examining a report on a level-crossing accident that
injured 12 tourists earlier this week before deciding whether charges will be laid.

The investigating police officer had submitted an accident report and once it had been been
looked at a decision would be made on what, if any, charges would be laid, a police
spokeswoman said.

The investigation comes after 12 people were hurt in a level-crossing accident near Colac
in Victoria's south-west.

A tourist bus ran into a ditch after clipping the side of a six-car train at a level
crossing on the Princes Highway, about 10km east of Colac, about 7.10pm on Monday.

The 22-seater bus, carrying Asian tourists, was returning to Melbourne from Warrnambool, on
the south-west coast, when it clipped the side of the locomotive.

Police said although the injuries were not life-threatening, about 10 bus passengers were
taken to Colac Hospital and two to Geelong Hospital.

No-one was hurt on the train.
